A New Chapter Begins:
Meet Your New Theatre Director!
Dear Mesa High Theatre Families,
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Theatre Director at Mesa High School! My name is Jere Van Patten, but y’all can call me “Mr. V.” I am honored to be joining the Jackrabbit family to lead the next exciting chapter of our school’s proud theatrical tradition.
With over two decades of experience as an educator, director, and working actor, I bring a deep passion for storytelling, student growth, and creating transformative theatre experiences. From Broadway-style musicals to intimate dramas, I’ve directed, coached, and taught students of all ages and ability levels, always striving to instill in them a sense of discipline, excellence, and achievement—both on and off the stage.
What excites me most about this opportunity is the chance to build a thriving, inclusive theatre community where every student feels valued, seen, and challenged to reach their full potential. Whether your student is stepping onto the stage for the first time or is already a seasoned performer or technician, there will be a place for them in our program.
This year’s season is shaping up to be one of creativity, collaboration, and community connection—and I can’t wait to share more details with you soon. I’ll also be reaching out with information about auditions, volunteer opportunities, and how you can support our productions behind the scenes.
In the meantime, feel free to follow along here on our new theatre website: www.jackrabbitdrama.com.
Thank you for the warm welcome I’ve already received. I can’t wait to meet each of you and work together to make magic on the Mesa High stage.
With excitement and gratitude,
Jere Van Patten
